As I stated in the previous post, I set this up for the worship music team I am privileged to be apart of. I feel blessed to be chosen to lead this group in leading people into God's Holy Presence. I want to post a reference section to the songs that I am influenced by and songs we do, so you know where I am coming from when I select a song to learn or play during worship. My goal is to stick to the music and lyrics as close to the examples provided as possible, there will be some instances we change a key or pattern to fit our style better. So let's start with a background of the Christian worship music I have drawn on as example and reference.
I would like to take a second to now tell you how old I feel. In my present research, I have learned my beginning worship influences are to old to be referenced by website, mp3, and you tube, sadly. You may have to dust off that trusty old cd player and go down to the local Christian book store to listen to these ones.
One of the first worship cds I remember listening to the whole way through and over and over again is the Hillsong By Your Side album. This was also the first worship conference I attended, I believe I was a teenager and this was amazing! Several others include the first Planet Shakers CD and first Generations Unleashed CD, neither of which I can find anywhere. Then came Hillsong United. Most of this is heavy acoustic and electric guitar driven rock worship. Delirious "Live and in the Can" cd. Their version of Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble was amazing. Passion, Better is One Day and Our Love is Louder.
I fell out of sorts of folloing worship music from 2001/02 until probably 2008/2009 (that was a very rough time, thank God he brought me out) when I came to Orofino. Then I caught up quickly. New Hillsongs & Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp to name a few. Now you can bet just about anything from Jesus Culture, anything Hillsong, Planet Shakers, David Crowder Band and Paul Baloche is in my ears. This is my musical taste and preference. I try to incorporate this into my style as well as my own original styling. I will be posting specific songs and albums soon for reference and for new songs I feel God is leading me to incorporate into our church.
